Blogging and College

How do I stay motivated? Why is it so difficult to time manage? How can I focus on myself instead of others? These are questions that everyone asks themselves from time to time. I will say I am no professional and that I am still learning. However, what I do know is that I am not alone. Yes, it is hard, and so many people that are motivated make it look so easy but here’s the thing, the people that are motivated are doing their job. The one important thing I have learned is that everyone is on their path to success. Everyone has their personal reasons to be driven. I watched a YouTube video, and this quote stuck with me: “If you aren’t motivated, then you aren’t doing what you love, you are not doing what you are meant to be doing.”  No matter the age, we all can become the best versions of ourselves, we all can do great things.

Do you know what that word is that everyone seems to forget? Passion! What can we do to help brighten our soul? My dad enjoys asking people “What is your why?” Many people struggle with this question. What is my why? Why am I on this earth? What is it that I am supposed to be doing to bring positivity among as many people as possible? Am I truly happy? Yeah, I know I am asking many questions, but I want everyone to relate to this post and hopefully learn something from it.

I will be honest, my classes for college haven’t started yet, but I am going into my next semester with goals, and a schedule that works for me as well as the mindset to succeed. Committing to blogging every week, having a part-time job, and taking five hard classes for my psychology major may seem crazy, but these are all things I want to do; that I am excited to do. I am thankful to have the ability to blog and do something I love on top of being able to get an education and working with awesome people. Here is the thing I hear a lot that I sometimes catch myself saying as well as others, “I can’t do this” or “This is impossible.” In those hard moments, let’s stop, breathe, and say “I can do this” and instead of saying, “This is impossible!” say, “This is hard, but I can accomplish anything.” I know this sounds ridiculous, and I know what you guys may be saying, “I hear this all the time, but it’s not that easy..” Well it is that easy. There you go again with the wrong thought! It’s easier than carrying that doubt on your shoulders. Trust me. I have gone through many days carrying that doubt. Having that confidence and strength is what creates a lighter, happier feeling within yourself.

Beginning my next semester after transferring from a college I thought was a perfect fit for me is scary, especially when I am in my first year. Many kids told me, “Stick it out and finish the last semester!” but I found myself unhappy, hoping for something to happen. I spent a lot of my time thinking and creating these goals that I would talk about with all of my friends in my hall, but I would never actually pursue them. The writing was one of those things that I loved but always told myself I wasn’t good enough. I enjoyed reading poetry and working with my English teacher to become a better writer. Since I was younger, writing almost felt impossible, and I would give up and become discouraged after everything I wrote. I started seeing number synchronicity and becoming more aware of my surroundings, and paying more attention to the people I was around. I finally found that motivation to sit down and write about something that can become powerful, something many people can enjoy, and something I also can enjoy.

I am going to share with you some tips that I follow by:

1. Breath. In stressful situations, we shift all of our focus on the position and forget about the inhale and the exhale. Stop, and take a deep breath because it will all be okay, I promise you.

2. When you are in a group of people, ask yourself, are the conversations positive? Are you catching yourself being someone you aren’t just to please the people around you?

3. This one is simple. Don’t do something you don’t want to do. It will create a dark cloud above you that will be hard to get rid of and trust me, that feeling hurts.

4. You can’t please everyone! Just be who you are, and do what makes you feel whole.

5. In situations that make you feel like you are stuck in quicksand, or moments that make your thoughts in your head feel like the finale at a firework show, tell yourself it will be okay. You will find a solution, and you will overcome it.

I want my blog to be a safe place where people can sit back, relax and drink a cup of coffee or a big glass of water and just focus on just one thing. When I write I feel so much, it's the only time I am able to create peace and explain myself. I want to help balance peoples lives as well as calm people down from the hectic world around them. So let this blog be a morning ritual to help create positivity and self love within yourself.
